Kenny grew up in a small town in Arkansas and there
was never a question of what he would one day become
until, Teddy Reidel came over and tuned the
family piano and played on it. The young Kidd knew
then his future would revolve around 88 keys and his
innate desire to master them.
Kenny recalls listening to records and picking out
piano parts. He listened to all types of music, rock,
country and blues. He was offered a job at a home-
jamboree at the age of 14, where he played every
weekend and this would lead to other jobs through-
out the years.
Today, the pianist-singer has proudly done what he set
out to do in regard to his instrument of choice. Kidd's
music talent coupled with his energetic showmanship
has earned him the respect of his earliest piano idol-Jerry
Lee Lewis who is quick to lavish Kidd's playing ability
with praise.
In 1994, Lewis caught Kidd's performance at the
"MIdnight Rodeo" in Little Rock, Ar., and called him to his
dressing room, where the Killer himself was being
interviewed by a reporter from "Nightflying" magazine.
"Son let me tell you something said Lewis"to the
reporter, who dutifully took the quote to print."I've never
told anyone this before but you are the best piano player
I've ever seen."
One way to really describe Kenny, beyond that
comparison is to take Jerry Lee Lewis, Elvis, Fats
Domino, Merle Haggard, Floyd Cramer,Waylon Jennings,
Hank Williams Jr., and sort of roll'em up into one and
then maybe you'll get an idea.
A self-taught musician, Kenny who also plays
guitar and drums has toured the U.S as both a head-
liner and opening act. Most recently he has shared the
stage not only with Little Richard, and Chuck Berry but
with country music's late Johnny Paycheck, David Allen
Coe, Mark Collie, Billy Joe Royal, T. Graham Brown and
Johnny Rodriguez just to name a few.
Kenny has recently added a new addition to his show,
Lisa Kidd. Lisa is Kenny's high school sweetheart and
wife of 7 years. Lisa plays bass and helps Kenny with
vocals. She has played with Kenny as a duo and with the
band for 4-5 years. Together, they make a great team and
enjoy meeting new people.
Kenny Kidd has the sheer ability to entertain a
crowd and connect with his audience. His awesome
energy and down to earth sincerity is what it takes to
make his show one you will not want miss!
